Roq Named as Finalists for Employer of The Year in The BIBAs 2022

There’s cause to celebrate at Roq, as coinciding with our 13th-anniversary celebrations, we’ve been shortlisted as finalists for Employer of The Year at the 2022 Be Inspired Business Awards (BIBAs)

There’s cause to celebrate at Roq, as coinciding with our 13th anniversary celebrations, we’ve been shortlisted as finalists for Employer of The Year at the 2022 Be Inspired Business Awards (BIBAs). The BIBAs are Lancashire’s largest and longest-running business awards programme, run by the North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, who recognise and celebrate the best in local businesses.

To be considered as finalists for Employer of The Year, the judging panel had to see evidence of excellence in five categories:

  • An open, inclusive work culture

  • Best practice and inspiring leadership and management

  • Staff training, development, retention, and recruitment

  • An innovative working environment and staff facilities

  • Encouraging young people into the business via work experience, apprenticeships, or traineeships

Each category falls within Roq’s Employee Promise, which strives to create an inspiring, rewarding and enjoyable working environment for our colleagues, and is underpinned by the core values of Excellence, Commitment, Straight Talking and Passionate. Our approach clearly impressed the judging panel and secured us a place at the BIBAs final to be held at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom on Friday 16th September, when the winner will be revealed.

In the last 12 months, we’ve doubled in size, inducting 53 new employees since October 2021 – a busy year indeed – and it’s fantastic to see a real focus on employee engagement remaining at the forefront of the business throughout such a dramatic increase in headcount. 22 of our most recently inducted colleagues joined us as part of the Roq Test Engineering Academy, which has been specifically designed to develop the next generation of quality specialists, and contributes to plugging the UK’s digital skills gap! In October 2021 we also held the inaugural ‘Roqtober Event’, boasting a three-course meal, guest speaker and a heap of fun for all Roq colleagues who chose to attend. The introduction of such an event, in addition to many longstanding initiatives, is proof of no slowing down, and a true commitment to the happiness of Roq’s employees.

Sarah Jane Riggott, Roq Head of People commented on our success:

We are extremely proud to be a Lancastrian business and are thrilled to have been recognised for our commitment to our employees. We’re well known for our great people, and the title of Employer of The Year 2022 would certainly show that we are living our Employee Promise.
