ROQ supports the launch of the pioneering social enterprise Cancer Central

ROQ, the strategic software testing solutions provider, has partnered with Cancer Central, a visionary social enterprise, which is headed up by one the most inspirational ladies in the UK tech community.

Avril Chester, founder of Cancer Central ( www.cancercentral.org.uk ) had a vision to provide a unique and invaluable service to those affected directly or indirectly by cancer. In a chance meeting with ROQ, she inspired the co-Founder of ROQ, Stephen Johnson, to support the launch of the service.

Stephen said “It was an easy decision and I wanted to make sure that we could support it from a financial point of view as well as provide a “hands-on” role. Following discussion with some of our team, it became clear that we could add real value to the launch by testing the website. It was so refreshing to be able to use our skills and expertise to support such an excellent cause”

The ROQ team worked from its Test Lab, in collaboration with the development partner TechFINIUM, and Avril, over a period of 14 weeks to take the idea from inception and design, through to launch in mid-September.

It was a unique project, in that it had the leader of the business behind all the teams and everyone was working on a truly common goal. The overriding comments from the team was that it was fantastic to be working on a project that had no real commercial pressure but had a real sense of making a positive difference to people’s lives.

Throughout the process, Avril has been closely involved with ensuring the quality was right, and commented, “the team at ROQ really went the extra mile to get this over the line. I was amazed by the level of detail they went to, to ensure that we launched with a brilliant website. I visited the team on occasions and it was great to see the atmosphere in the Test Lab and get involved in some additional fund raising events the team had put on for Cancer Central.”

ROQ has sponsored the big launch and celebratory party in early October and looks forward to joining the black-tie evening in London.

Everyone at ROQ wishes Avril and all those involved with Cancer Central, a huge success and we will continue to support it through the next stages of its development.
