Senior Test Analyst

As a Senior Test Analyst, you will support the Test Manager/Lead and the wider team by thinking innovatively about how best to test the solution and what may be required to facilitate testing. You will provide support, help and guidance to more junior colleagues working alongside them.

Working as part of a team, you will provide leadership, feedback, mentoring and coaching as required. With a flexible approach, you will be comfortable managing challenging timescales and frequent changes in day-by-day work plans.

Key responsibilities

  • To review programme/project documentation that will form the test basis and provide appropriate feedback to strengthen these documents (static testing)
  • Lead test specification activity for the allocated areas of functionality, providing support help and guidance to testers and more junior colleagues working alongside them
  • Drive out test conditions from key documents that form the test basis, seeking clarification where necessary, identify and design test scenarios, test data and test cases to cover these
  • Maintenance of test automation frameworks and extending the test cases
  • Supporting execution for all testing phases, including UAT and Live Proving
  • Work collaboratively with business personnel, particularly around defining requirements and supporting execution for testing phases such as UAT and Live Proving
  • Rigorously perform test execution, record the results accurately and log defects, and ensure the more junior colleagues work to the same high standards
  • Ensure test artefacts produced are reviewed appropriately
  • Seek opportunity for continuous improvement and implement solutions that add value to the client/project

Key Skills

  • Experience of working in Waterfall, Agile and hybrid and custom testing approaches
  • Strong level of practical exposure to industry leading testing tools and capability to exploit further tools as required
  • Confident in pair programming, engaging with the Developer to support the utilisation of TDD
  • The skills to specify the test data required for the areas of functionality allocated and secure/prepare elements of this data where necessary
  • Skilled in the testing techniques required to drive out test conditions from key documents that form the test basis
  • Typically, 3+ years working as a Test Analyst across a number of programs including all key test phases (desirable)
  • A working knowledge of service-oriented architecture and interfaces and able to lead the interaction with APIs/interfaces using automated testing tools, e.g. SOAP-UI, Postman and bespoke coded test automation frameworks.
  • Experienced in liaising with clients and resolving queries according to client requirements
