Accelerating Maintenance Efficiency: How Roq Enabled AI-Driven Quality Engineering for D365 F&O

Roq helped a global aerospace composites manufacturer improve maintenance efficiency during its migration from AX to Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations by introducing an AI-driven, “shift left” Quality Engineering approach.

Our Client

Our client is a global leader in manufacturing advanced composites, including carbon fibre, serving critical aerospace projects worldwide. With 22 factories across multiple countries, they are a key part of the aerospace supply chain, producing materials essential for high-performance applications.

The Client Challenge

The client was migrating from AX to Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O) to drive operational efficiency and reliability. With manufacturing downtime costing up to $260,000 per hour, the business-critical goal was clear - ensure their enterprise platform runs securely, rapidly, and with resilience.

Traditionally, ticket analysis and testing were reactive and manual, resulting in delays and potential risks to production. Partnering with D365 specialists and Roq, the client recognised that the key to optimising maintenance lay in proactive, AI-enabled Quality Engineering, embedding quality early, and reducing manual effort across processes.

What We Delivered

Working collaboratively with the client and their consultancy partner, Roq introduced a “shift left” Quality Engineering (QE) approach. Requirements, acceptance criteria, and test creation were brought to the very front of the ticket lifecycle. By challenging and clarifying requests at inception, ambiguity was eliminated, creating a shared understanding of success - before any change was made.

Microsoft Copilot’s AI platform played a transformative role. Ticket requirements were automatically analysed, producing robust acceptance criteria and initial test cases - significantly accelerating analysis and bolstering coverage. This freed the client’s engineers to focus time on high-value, complex problem solving.

Quality Engineers, business users, and technical specialists operated in lockstep, with feedback loops integral to the process. Regular retrospectives ensured best practices evolved, delivering sustained improvements in quality, coverage, and turnaround time.

Initially, client maintenance processes relied on manual analysis and legacy testing approaches - too slow for their pace and scale. Roq quickly pivoted, embedding AI and shift left QE principles within six weeks via training and process re-design. The result? A fully adopted, future-ready solution.

Client Impact

  • Automated requirement analysis and test generation cut processing time by 40%, releasing engineering capacity for innovation.

  • Lower defect rates & reduced downtime

  • Early fault detection and systematic testing minimised software-related outages, protecting against costly disruptions.

  • Improved system reliability & data quality

  • Enhanced validation ensured real-time accuracy, stability, and performance of the client’s manufacturing setup.

  • Boost in productivity and morale

  • Streamlined workflows, less rework, and transparent requirements led to happier teams and higher satisfaction.

Roq’s partnership with this client has redefined maintenance for D365 F&O. By harnessing AI and shift left Quality Engineering, they now process maintenance tickets faster, experience fewer defects, and maintain unwavering reliability in manufacturing operations. This journey has not only delivered tangible financial and operational benefits but strengthened team capabilities – helping place the client firmly at the forefront of innovation in the manufacturing sector.
