Agile success delivered: how a global services provider modernised workflow management

As part of a complex digital transformation, our client set out to replace outdated and unsupported workflow management systems with a unified, scalable platform. Through Roq’s Managed Service solution, we provided specialist testing support that enhanced product quality, improved user experience, and helped embed testing best practice across the programme.

OUR CLIENT

Our client is a leading infrastructure and services business operating in over 25 countries, generating £8.2 billion in revenue and employing 67,000 people globally. The service division alone supports UK-wide operations across defence, justice, transport, education, and utilities, impacting the daily lives of millions.

THE CLIENT CHALLENGE

The client was modernising its work management applications (WMAs), which were outdated, unsupported, and fragmented across standalone systems. The core challenges included:

  • Legacy systems were outdated, unsupported, and unreliable, impacting daily operations.

  • Lack of integration, poor validation, and undocumented processes introduced risk.

  • The hybrid Agile/Waterfall approach created delivery and test alignment issues.

  • Late-phase development continued during testing, increasing test complexity.

The new solution needed to streamline workflows, support scalability, and improve user experience across a national portfolio of services.

WHAT WE DELIVERED

Delivered through our Managed Service solution, Roq supported Phase 1 of the transformation and delivered structured, expert-led testing to de-risk delivery and improve quality, by:

  • Creating nearly 3,000 test cases using Microsoft Test Manager, developed through analysis of user stories and business consultation.

  • Executing test cases across functional, regression, system acceptance, and integration phases, ensuring robust test coverage.

  • Performing static testing and early-stage challenge of requirements, helping to close gaps in undocumented business processes.

  • Improving UI design and user experience, identifying enhancements during testing that were adopted by the client.

  • Aligning test delivery across hybrid Agile/Waterfall approaches, reducing confusion, avoiding rework, and ensuring test stability.

CLIENT IMPACT

Our Managed Service enabled the successful deployment of a modern, future-ready application:

  • A major customer was successfully migrated to the new platform, with additional rollouts in progress.

  • Testing gaps were closed through Roq-led static analysis and requirements refinement.

  • UI and usability enhancements improved performance and user satisfaction.
