Automating quality at scale: how Roq enabled global test coverage across brands and markets

Our client is one of the world’s largest consumer goods companies, owning globally recognised brands and selling products in nearly 190 countries. With a widespread and complex operational function, the company continuously evolves to maintain its leadership in a competitive marketplace.  

THE CLIENT CHALLENGE 

As part of a major B2C transformation, our client was launching a growing number of direct-to-consumer brand sites using the Demandware platform. Each launch involved collaboration across multiple third parties, and every deployment needed to work across countries, devices, and browsers.  The key challenges included: 

  • Increasing volume of regional brand site launches with overlapping timelines and varied configurations 

  • Manual testing was inefficient and unsustainable for validating complex multi-market combinations 

  • A need to reduce dependency on technical resources for automation development 

  • Risk of showstopper defects slipping through due to inconsistent test coverage across browsers and devices 

WHAT WE DELIVERED 

Delivered as part of our Managed Service solution, Roq implemented a robust and scalable automation approach that empowered test efficiency across countries, browsers, and devices: 

  • Leveraged Roq’s proprietary Automation Framework to convert manual scripts into automated tests aligned to UAT journeys 

  • Decomposed end-to-end scenarios into modular reusable functions—building over 60-unit tests across login methods, product availability states, and checkout journeys 

  • Enabled execution of automated tests across three countries (UK, US, France), three device types (Desktop, Tablet, Mobile), and multiple browsers (IE, Chrome, Firefox, Safari) 

  • Automated execution of regression tests using Jenkins CI pipelines, aligned with daily release schedules 

  • Upskilled Roq’s manual test team into ‘automation-savvy’ testers, increasing flexibility and sustainability of test delivery
