THE CLIENT CHALLENGE 

The client needed a partner to help them accelerate Agile delivery while improving the reliability and efficiency of their testing. They faced key challenges: 

• Regression testing for their digital platform was manual, slow, and expensive — requiring 13 testers over 8 weeks. 

• In-house testing resources lacked bandwidth to scale with increasing delivery velocity. 

• There was an urgent need to assure both functional and integration quality for a new credit platform rollout. 

• The client wanted to adopt modern practices like Continuous Integration and BDD without disrupting delivery. 

WHAT WE DELIVERED 

Through our Delivery Augmentation solution, Roq embedded experienced consultants directly into the client’s Agile delivery squads to drive quality outcomes for their new credit platform. Our work spanned across the full testing lifecycle and included: 

• Leading functional testing of the user interface and integration layers within a microservices-based architecture, with a strong focus on test automation. 

• Designing and implementing a maintainable test automation framework using open-source technologies including Selenium WebDriver, Cucumber, Groovy, and Jenkins CI, aligned to the client’s DevOps pipeline. 

• Driving Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) practices by capturing user requirements as Gherkin scenarios using Jira Behave, ensuring test alignment with business expectations. 

• Conducting integration and API-level testing using SoapUI, including contract testing and validation of key services such as fraud checks and account management. 

• Verifying transaction data persistence across the front-end UI and backend data stores, ensuring business-critical events were processed and recorded correctly. 

• Working within cloud-hosted test environments on AWS, using mocks and stubs where appropriate, and supporting version control migration from SVN to Git/Bitbucket. 

• Supporting knowledge transfer and capability uplift by mentoring internal test engineers, sharing automation best practices, and embedding sustainable testing approaches.
