From manual to momentum: how our client cut uat time by 600 days through automation

Our client - a leading global law firm - was spending hundreds of hours manually processing UAT scenarios across its business. As part of Roq’s ongoing service engagement, we developed and implemented an automated solution that empowered business users to generate their own automated tests. The result: over 600 days of effort saved, significantly faster software releases, and greater confidence in each deployment.

OUR CLIENT 

Our client is a multinational law firm and a member of the "Magic Circle" of elite London-headquartered law firms. It employs over 2,800 lawyers and operates offices in 20 countries worldwide. 

THE CLIENT CHALLENGE 

Manual UAT processes were placing a heavy burden on the business, limiting release velocity and tying up key personnel. Key challenges included: 

  • More than 200 employees involved in manually processing UAT data. 

  • Each UAT cycle required approximately 3 days of effort per person, per scenario. 

  • A lack of automation meant delays, high cost, and repetitive manual work. 

  • Business users had limited ability to generate or reuse test scenarios independently. 

WHAT WE DELIVERED 

As part of our ongoing Managed Service solution, Roq collaborated with stakeholders to replace the manual UAT process with a scalable, automated approach. Our focus was on empowering the business to adopt and extend the solution independently: 

  • Designed and built an automated solution using SpecFlow, xUnit, and C#, enabling rapid execution of UAT scenarios. 

  • Replaced the previous “automate-after-manual” approach with true UAT automation, running 1,900+ scenarios in under 10 seconds. 

  • Delivered training and mentoring to enable business users to generate and manage automated test scenarios independently. 

  • Ran daily stand-ups and weekly checkpoints with business users to ensure clarity, speed, and constant feedback. 

CLIENT IMPACT 

The impact of the solution was immediate and significant, saving time, improving confidence, and reducing operational friction: 

  • 600 days of manual effort eliminated, freeing up more than 200 users to focus on core business activities. 

  • 4 weeks saved per UAT phase, enabling faster software releases with less overhead. 

  • Increased confidence and test coverage, with automation now embedded in every new scenario. 

  • Business users fully enabled, with the autonomy to generate and maintain test coverage with minimal technical input.
