OUR CLIENT 

Our client is a multinational law firm and a member of the "Magic Circle" of elite London-headquartered law firms. It employs over 2,800 lawyers and operates offices in 20 countries worldwide. 

THE CLIENT CHALLENGE 

GDPR regulations required the redaction of specific information within legal documents. The existing redaction process was slow, manual, and costly. Key challenges included: 

• 9–15 minutes required per document, using standard PDF tools for redaction. 

• High-value legal staff spending time on low-value tasks, impacting revenue potential. 

• Manual redaction introduced the risk of human error, affecting document quality and client confidence. 

• No standard test process in place, to validate or support future tool updates. 

WHAT WE DELIVERED 

As part of our ongoing Managed Service solution, Roq collaborated with internal stakeholders to implement, test, and futureproof a redaction automation tool that delivers speed, consistency, and compliance: 

• Helped select and evaluate a third-party solution, based on understanding of legal workflows and GDPR requirements. 

• Built a tool-specific regression suite in Azure DevOps, covering key personas (User/Admin/Project Admin). 

• Validated new features post-mid-project update, ensuring test scripts were accurate and reusable.

• Incorporated stopwatch-based performance testing across Frankfurt, New York, and Tokyo to validate speed across regions. 

CLIENT IMPACT 

With this new solution, our client is set to realise measurable efficiency gains and cost savings — while enhancing compliance and user experience: 

• 35% reduction in redaction time, enabling faster turnaround of legal documents. 

• Estimated annual saving of £337,500, by freeing legal staff to focus on higher-value, chargeable work. 

• Improved accuracy and security, reducing the risk of human error in redacted content. 

• Reusable, scalable test suite, supporting future releases with no dependency on additional external support.
