We’ve rebranded

We’ve rebranded… So why the change? What’s made us do it? And what will it mean?

By Stephen Johnson, CEO - Roq

Why the change?

What’s made us do it?

What will it mean?

These are just some of the questions I have been asked, and formed answers to, over the last six months or so. Questions from the Roq leadership team, external advisers, clients (existing and prospective) and most importantly, members of the Roq team. So, I wanted to share my answers with a wider audience, now we have launched it.

The easy answer would be that we fancied a change.  A simple logo change and an updated set of pantones would suffice this simple challenge. The reality, however, is much deeper than that.

We have been in business since 2009, and it’s been a brilliant journey – as a business and for me personally. We see how the market is moving and shaping up and have identified what we believe to be a genuine opportunity to build upon our reputation, leverage our amazing culture, and address an ever-growing market.

We have a clear vision – to be the UK’s leading Quality Engineering company – we have some really ambitious strategic plans to take the business to a new level and have identified some really exciting milestones on that path.

The first step was to re-imagine what we wanted to be and how we would sit against our very able competitors. We also wanted to look through the lens of our clients and the businesses we have relationships with. We absolutely wanted to provide our team, and any new Roq team members, with a fantastic opportunity for growth and development. So, we did it.

From the very first day we started, we had quality in our name – Return on quality (Roq). Its intrinsic in everything we try to do and what we provide. As such, we wanted to continue to make Quality sing within our positioning and our brand identity. So, we created the “Q”.

The “Q” is ours. We own it. It’s in what we do for our clients – Quality Engineering; it’s in how we strive for continual improvement across the business, and its sits seamlessly within each of our values. We also went a little deeper than that. What else does the “Q” represent?

Well, the “Q” has a tail, and it symbolises how we select and look after our team members, so they fit in perfectly and how we seamlessly fit into working with our clients to make a whole…

Take a look at our short video!

In addition to this, its because we want our logo to stand out and be different. We are definitely “like no other” and we love that.

The logo makes sense and looks great, the pantones are beautiful (and familiar), and the new website looks fantastic, ladened with lots of Roq stars. So, what else?

Well. The really exciting bit. We have an opportunity to help shape the Quality Engineering market for the next generation; why wouldn’t we seize that moment?

We are starting an evolution, rather than a revolution of our service portfolio. We are very good at what we do – see our NPS scores – but we continually strive for more (I hate complacency). We want to open up wider conversations with our clients to help them embrace quality like never before. Despite being in 2022, and in the midst of a technology revolution, we still see many of the same issues we did when we started. With a focus on services across the wider lifecycle, we’ll be able to make a bigger impact than before – adding value in new areas.

The feedback from clients has so far been excellent. It’s already opened up new stimulus for conversations. We have built a roadmap for the next 18 months of new and refined services, that our clients will help us shape and define.  We have also defined a core set of Quality Engineering principles which will help drive real game-changing value for our clients.

And the Roq team?

Well, that is another incredible part of this story. We invest huge amounts in training across the whole company, whether you are joining through our ground-breaking Quality Engineering academy, upskilling across tooling and techniques, or developing true leadership skills.

As such, we are now providing more training than in any previous years to ensure that our team can provide a greater portfolio than ever before – we are on a mission to continually develop the best talent in the market. That takes time, nurturing and investment and we are committed to doing that.

We’ll also continue to support our communities – whether that be global or local education institutions in the virtues of quality – through to supporting underfunded and under-represented groups within the technology sector. We still hold all those things dear.

In summary, this has been a brilliant journey so far. We are on the verge of something significant and are all excited by the opportunity ahead of us. We continue to focus on the two most important things to us – our team and our clients – and as such, we will literally do “Quality Engineering like no other”.
